Vocational Rehabilitation Service Project for Migratory Agricultural Workers and Seasonal Farmworkers with Disabilities
Overview and Objectives
Provided access to rehabilitative, vocational, and educational services for disabled migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families in selected counties of New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
To support federal efforts to achieve the full integration and participation in society of people with disabilities, we provided educational, training, and advocacy services to migrant and seasonal agricultural workers with disabilities in New Jersey. The project identified and recruited eligible individuals and helped them and their families attain rehabilitation services for work-related injuries, career counseling, job training, and placement and occupational skills training.
We also provided educational, training, and advocacy services to Pennsylvania’s migrant and seasonal agricultural workers with disabilities. The project identified and recruited eligible individuals and assisted them and their families with receiving services, such as rehabilitation for work-related injuries; career counseling; job training and placement; and occupational skills training. In addition, we provided assessment, case management, counseling, referral and educational services (including ESL, native language literacy, basic and workplace math skills, GED test preparation, and college preparatory training).
