Our History
Our story began in 1965 with a group of university professors and social activists who believed a better world was possible.
From that beginning, URC has combined the idealism of the era with the pragmatism necessary to improve the quality of life and well-being of people around the world.
URC has grown as a mission-driven global leader. Recognized for its work in health care quality improvement, URC now has more than 1,000 employees worldwide and has implemented projects in over 90 countries.
We listen and learn alongside our partners. We believe that results are more sustainable and effective when local partners, governments, communities, and the private sector work together. Together, we improve the quality, equity, and resilience of health systems to respond to community needs and emerging threats.
URC has earned a reputation for technical excellence and innovation through collaborative work with national governments, communities, the private sector, and donors – partners including USAID, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Bank, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and others.
More than just what we do, though, URC is known for how we do it. We collaborate to turn knowledge into action. Committed staff with global expertise in a variety of areas allows us to implement sustainable, evidence-based solutions for a wide range of challenges.
By remaining true to our mission, URC is poised to support the well-being and resiliency of individuals, families, and their communities worldwide for the next 50 years and beyond.
