Overview and Objectives

Evaluated data collection and reporting activities for health care-associated infections (HAI) and antimicrobial use in 23 health care facilities in 10 U.S. states.

The survey was part of a larger undertaking by the CDC to determine the viability of a national HAI and antimicrobial use survey.

Achievements

  • Visited health facilities to review patient files to make HAI determinations and antimicrobial use assessments
  • Uploaded resulting data to the National Healthcare Safety Network database for comparison with a parallel CDC-directed data abstraction
