Implementation Support for Non-Communicable Diseases and Injuries (NCDI) Project
Overview and Objectives
Expanded coverage of services for heart attacks, cervical cancer, strokes, and other cardiovascular diseases to reach 95% of the country’s population. Developed a program trial for the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine and expanded efforts to prevent noncommunicable diseases.
Achievements
- Trial achieved 65% coverage of HPV vaccine administered to Mongolian girls, ages 10–14
- Developed HPV Vaccination Plan for implementation in May 2013 – July 2014
- Developed communication materials that include key facts about the vaccine and appeal to various audiences, including students, teachers, and policymakers
- Integrated early screening of noncommunicable diseases into other high-priority health care services
- Developed strategies to improve the diagnosis and treatment of stroke and heart attack
- Assessed the adequacy of pharmaceutical supply management systems
- Provided cost analysis and feasibility assessments of cervical cancer, cardiovascular disease, and stroke prevention and care services
